¨       Sat 16 June 2007 - Balmoral Castle / Royal Lochnagar Distillery - 09.30 to 16.45 / 17.00

Looking out over a scenic landscape of outstanding beauty, Balmoral Castle stands deep in the Scottish Highlands. Follow the famous Royal Deeside Road from Aberdeen to discover the Royal Family's Scottish home, purchased by Prince Albert in 1852. There is much to enjoy in this magical setting - the ballroom with its paintings, artefacts and examples of the Royal tartan, the Carriage Hall Exhibition and a wonderful variety of walks, gardens and trails, many offering superb views of the surrounding countryside.

After revelling in the peace and tranquillity of this magnificent estate, enjoy lunch and perhaps some shopping in the restaurant and gift shop.

Your journey now resumes along the famous Royal Deeside Road en route for the short journey to Royal Lochnagar Distillery - close to Balmoral Castle. At this small and intimate distillery - established in 1845 by John Begg and later visited by none other than Queen Victoria herself - follow the age old process which transforms crystal clear Highland water and malted barley into the much sought after Royal Lochnagar Single Malt. Before browsing in the distillery shop, enjoy a "dram" of this famous 'water of life'.
